Project Summary In 2004, the Grant County EDC began assisting Specialty Chemical in its search for a new manufacturing site in Grant County. On October 1, 2007, Specialty Chemical purchased 4 buildings and 6 acres of land from Central Terminals, LLC at the old sugar beet plant east of Moses Lake.
Specialty Chemicals has removed all the remaining infrastructure and will invest $30 million in new equipment and upgrades that will convert the site into a facility for producing precipitated silica and fluoride salt.
The new facility will employ 50 people with 35 hourly workers and 15 salaried administrative employees. Due to the national economic situation this project is currently on hold. |
