EDC 2013 Progress Report

Pacific Coast Canola in Warden, WA.2013 started off with a bang for the Grant County EDC. From site visits, to conferences, to new job announcements, the year has been flying by quickly.

To date the EDC has had 19 inquiries from businesses. The interested industries include: manufacturers, composite companies, food processing, water bottling and data centers. The EDC has hosted 9 different companies that made visits to Grant County. “The EDC is excited about every prospect that comes to Grant County,” said Jonathan Smith, Executive Director of the EDC, “we are looking forward to see how these current projects will progress.”

Fuji Chemicals and AstaReal announced on July 15, that it plans to build a biotechnological processing plant in Grant County. They will be investing $30 million into the community and hiring 45 employees. Pacific Coast Canola started operations at the beginning of 2013, investing $109 million into the community and hiring 45 employees. Amway/Nutrilight is still under construction on its nutraceutical  plant and plans to be fully operational this fall with a workforce of 45 employees.

The first half of the year has been very active for the EDC and it is expected the rest of 2013 will follow suit.
