Retail Task Force TeamTwelve representatives traveled to the Las Vegas Convention Center on May 18-20, 2014 to attend the Global Retail Real Estate Convention (RECon) to meet with developers, retailers and other municipalities. More than 35,000 attendees and 1,000 booths came together for this event.

The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce, Grant County EDC and many realtors traveled down to Las Vegas with a large 300 square foot booth display featuring our great community.

Emily Braunwart, Accounting and Communications Manager at the EDC commented, “It was great to be back at RECon again this year. We came together as a community and were able to make some great connections with retailers and developers.”

The representatives who traveled built on last year’s trip. Information about traffic counts on main highways and roads, the amount of housing permits approved in each of the communities, and current manufacturing and retail companies in our community was on hand to help deliver the message. “We did a good job anticipating what it was the companies wanted to know about our area. At our meetings we were already prepared with all the information they wanted,” said Jonathan Smith, Executive Director of the EDC.

The Grant County representatives shared information about locations, demographics, available properties and market trends in our area at the show. Rapid job growth, low electrical cost, and available affordable and easy to develop sites; make this community a key area for new development.
