Facilities Cost Contribution
For large industrial loads, Grant PUD requires that land be provided by the property owner to the Grant PUD for the use of constructing a substation. There is also a Facilities Cost Contribution as the cost for substation construction and other transmission infrastructure are not built into the Grant PUD rate schedules like you might find at other utilities. The 2011 Facilities Cost Contribution is $126,402 per MW.
10 Average MW per Year for New Customer
A new Grant County PUD customer with a large load is only entitled to 10 average megawatts per year at Grant County PUD rates. This is 87,600,000 kWh per year, or an average of 7,300,000 kWh per month and any use beyond that in a given year will be supplied at market rates. However, a new customer is eligible to recieve an additional 10 average megawatts or 87,600,000 kWh each consecutive year at district rates. This means in year two the customer will recieve 175,200,000 kWh at Grant County PUD rates and in year three they will recieve 262,800,000 kWh at District rates and so on and so on.
