
Dr. Sara Thompson Tweedy
Dr. Sara Thompson Tweedy moved to Moses Lake in the Summer of 2020 to become president of Big Bend Community College. Prior to coming here, she lived in upstate New York. Her previous roles include serving as the Vice President of Student Access, Involvement and Success at SUNY Westchester; the Dean of Student Development Service, a counselor & academic advisor, and women’s basketball coach s at SUNY Sullivan; pastor of The Federated Church of Kerhonkson as an ordained United Methodist minister; and in the US Army as a diesel mechanic. Sara has a doctorate from the University of Maryland University College, a masters from Yale, and a Bachelor’s degree from Hollins College. Her passion for serving students runs deep. She finds great fulfillment in connecting them to meaningful careers or further academic study. She has a strong belief that the community college is an essential piece in economic development and looks forward to connecting business and industry leaders with educational resources to further develop their workforce.
